Finally found my laser mouse! (oh…and I got a job)

Its amazing – when you’re getting ready to move, you pack with the intention of putting things in organized boxes so that when you get to your destination you can unpack and find all the important stuff. Well – I found 99% of everything i ‘needed’ to get going again with life, except my brand new and super amazing Microsoft lazer mouse. This has made my design life easer since I purchased it about 3 weeks ago. So… the first thing I went looking for after dusting off my computer and keyboard was this mouse. Could’t find it. For the past week I have been looking through the same 20 boxes hoping that I just missed the first 7 times.

Finally, today, Leah found it in a box labeled “bedroom”. I’m not sure how it made it there but I am the happiest basement designer in the world right now.

Also too (and this is probably way more important than a lazer mouse) I have a new job! I will be heading to work tomrrow as the newest graphic designer for an upstart company called Disc Revolt. I spent last week interviewing and meeting with all the folks at Disc Revolt and I guess the liked me and my work enough to offer me a job.

I will try to write more about Disc Revolt later this week – but in the mean time check out their site for a bit more info on what they do.

In other job news, Leah starts her new job at Spa Sydell tomorrow too! Pray for us! PLEASE!

Lazy Rainy Afternoon

So, I finally have the computer, Brian and Chad are at lunch and Candy is visiting her sister so I’m going to attempt to post an update. I haven’t used this new format much yet and so I’m not 100% sure how to do it. Finger’s crossed, here we go . . .

As you’ve read from Brian’s post, we’ve officially arrived in GA and are getting settled. Yesterday we traversed the DDS system (their version of DMV for licenses) and it wasn’t too bad at all. If you check our tumblr Brian has already posted a pic of his new id mugshoot :) Now we have to figure out the DMVS office (again their version of DMV – yes, you have to go to two offices – one for each) and get our new plates and tags.

Also, fun side note, we met with our new local State Farm Agent. His name is Marc and not only was he super helpful and nice, but he has the most gnarly awesome handle bar mustache around – check out his webpage link.

Our cars arrived this past Tuesday as scheduled and were all in one piece – yeah! We had shipped them via a company who used Car Hauling Trailers (like the ones dealerships use) and then you simply broker a spoke for your vehicle. Based on gas prices and wear and tear, we got a great deal and didn’t have to drive them which was the best part.

It’s raining today and I couldn’t be enjoying it more. This is one of the silly little things I’ve missed being in CA- having different weather. We have been to the city a few times and can’t wait to explore more often. Our whole trip and move still seem surreal at this point. It’s seems to comfortable and great already, but foreign at the same time. I think once I start my new job and get into a little bit of a routine it will all start to sink in, but for now we’re just having fun and still are confident that this is and will be the best plan for us.

And yes, I did get a new job. I start with Spa Sydell on Monday in their corporate office. It’s about 30 minutes away and I will be working in their Marketing Department as the Event Coordinator. I will be doing about 50% marketing, 40% Events and 10% Sales for small groups as I understand it at this point. I’m really looking forward to it and the bonus with this job is that the corporate office is business casual and also a much closer drive. So all in all, things have been working out so well and really coming together. I let you know how their massages are soon – can’t wait to try them out! Brian is looking forward to one too.

More to come and life unfolds here in GA . . .

We made it.

Well – finally today – we have cable and internet – so we officially made it. I am so happy to be online. I felt like I was loosing touch with reality. And the whole school shooting thing happened while we were on the road so I feel like I missed that too. You can only get so much info off of a cellphone internet connection. Anyhow… we’re here and we’ll post more content and photos as we get stuff unpacked. Thanks to all who checked the progress of our trip via the Tumblr. Keep checking that cos its fun to post stuff to it. Also check out the Pearsons Tumblr if you didn’t already. They have some fun shots as well as one of the funniest videos of his neice trying to sleep in a car. It slays.

THE MOVE IS ON!

Alrighty… well. by the time you read this we’ll be on the great highways and byways of the US. So.. to keep up with us – keep checking my tumblr site for photos and updates from my cell phone. Pray for us. thanks

The packing begins…

We have begun to pack… and I am already tired of it. Well, not really. I like the idea of getting rid of junk we’re never use or don’t need. That part is cool, it’s just the finding a creative way to pack everything you own in as small of a way as possible. It’s not like we’re moving down the freeway – we’re moving across the country so stuff has to be dialed in. Yesterday I started packing my cds and I ran out of boxes. Now onto books. Speaking of books, someone needs to write a book on systematic packing for moving. That would help today.
