“Is it wild enough, or just mildly free”

I’m back! And, happy to report that I had the opportunity of a lifetime, or maybe just this month, or maybe this week. Anyway, I went to a mini-concert called “Circle of Friends” sponsored by the local indie/rock station Dave FM [92.9 for those of you in the ATL] and saw Damien Rice perform four songs with just him a guitar and another two with a keyboard.

So how did I end up there you ask? Through a work connection b/c we advertise with them and clients/vendors get invited to each session. Essentially whenever an artist, that they play on their station, comes to town for a show, they have an initmate gathering of you and your closest 40 strangers at a venue called “Vinyl.” It was, in a word – AMAZING!

And, today just so happens to be my one month anniversary at Spa Sydell – so it was like a little anniversary gift to me! Sorry to brag, I’m not really good at it, nor do I enjoy it – BUT I just had to share, thanks!

Sorta New Lomo Photos

coming back from Phoenix Trip
Right before we left California, I had run up some credit with the local guy who deveoloped my film – I had to burn out the credit I had. So we had 2 rolls deveoped the day before we left, and we packed them away. Last night I found them – so they are now in our Flickr site.

The Dustman Cometh

Golfers
This past weekend our buddy Dusty visited the MANSON compound. (Manley/Pearson house – duh) Dust and I went to a Bright Eyes concert on Friday night at ar really cool venue in downtown Atlanta. Bright Eyes was good, but not great. Its tough for me like an artist who doesn’t seem to care that he’s performing. I felt that the only reason he liked playing live was for the free drinks. He could have cared less that a few thousand people were staring at him (and that some high school girls were crying at the very sight of him) Come on. Act like you care. Jerk

The hi-light for me was watching Gillian Welch play live. She was amazing, as was her side kick/ guitar picker. He was fantastic.

On Saturday we all went out for a competitive round of Mini-Golf. We went to a Pirates Cove course, and when I was a kid, Pirates Cove was the coolest course I had ever been to. Either my standards have gone up or the one we went too was ran by some hillbillies, but the course was terrible. All of the water parts were dried up with gunk in them and the places with standing water looked like a nice breeding ground for deadly mosquitoes. It was ghetto… but we had fun.

We also put Dusty to work on helping us whip up some P is for Panda button packs that will be available very shortly. Keep an eye out for them. Here’s a sneak peak….

Reflections on Jerry Fallwell

As I was IM’d about the news of Fallwell’s death, I thought “about darn time!” I never fully followed his carreer, nor do i remember his creation the ‘moral majority”. All I rememer of him is stupid crap coming out of his jowly mouth. His death sparked lots of discussion at the DiscRevolt office and even caused some pranksters to vandalize his Wikipedia entry.(ha!) All that said – I sadly take joy in his death. I am a jerk.

At the office a few of us were talking bout him fulfilling God’s role for his life. Was it his role to be a heartless bastard with a mic? Was he really speaking for God? I’m not sure I could answer those questions honestly. But the thing that shut me up the quickest came from a IM from my brother.

His line was ” I wonder if when he got to heaven God said “thanks for making Me look like a jerk.” And that rattled my cage a bit. For all the crap we can talk about Fallwell in his life, the stuff about gays and 9/11, the bigotry, so on and so forth, how much more do I make God look like a jerk? Seriously – I probably on a regular basis make God look like a fool. And I am aware of it.

So all that to say – I could talk a lot of crap on Fallwell – but I won’t – since I am a jerk just like he was.

Photos from our trip cross country (*fixed)

Finally. I had some time yesterday to whip together a quick slideshow/display site for some of the photos the Manleys and the Pearsons took on our trip from Orange County, CA to Atlanta,GA. The photos are not in order…. so re-order them in your mind. (*update: I realized today that the gallery wasn’t working right – so I fixed it. Sorry about that)
