Happy Leap Day

I wonder if it would be weird to have born on this day?!  You would really only have a birthday every four years. Would it seem like you were tracking your life in some type of “animal years” instead? hmmm. I don’t think I even know of anyone born on a Leap Day. Do you?

For those of you that are curious why an extra day needs to be added to our calendars every now and then [as I was] click here for a complete and nerdy description from your friend and mine, wiki.

New Home

It’s official, we’ve found our new home and finalized all of the paperwork for the lease. It’s a 1940’s Crafstman Bungalow: 2 bd | 2ba, fenced in yard, porch, enormous kitchen, fireplace, hard wood floors throughout and ample closet space for a home built in that era.

We are SO EXCITED and we’ll be moving the second weekend of May. We’ll be overlapping our current lease by three weeks, but it will make it worth while so we can move in slowly and hopefully keep organized and not be rushed during a move – this will be a first.

If you’d like to take a peek, click here . The current tenants are still there so their furniture and decor is still in the photos. But it will give you a quick glimpse of the new abode.

… HAS A BUNCH OF UNICORN STUFF IN HER BEDROOM

2 Things I know for sure. Politics are a sensitive issue with some people and I am a big nerd.  On the political tip, Leah and I follow all the ups and downs of the campaigns through TV and various blogs. We love keeping tabs of this years election because we have been, like many, so disenfranchised by the current administration and want to see something new and fresh and someone who can lead the country OUT of messes instead of INTO them.  Whichever horse you want in the race,  we really don’t care. This post is not about who you want for president, its about web nerds that are early adopters and love pop culture on the internets.  barackis.jpg Earlier this week a friend of mine sent me a link that I thought was funny and pop-culture cool called : barackobamaisyournewbicycle.com .  I posted it on my blog and thought maybe it would make “best week ever” some day.  Well yesterday I stumbled upon my new favorite website that makes me giggle with every single refresh: hillaryismomjeans.com .  What makes HILLARY better and more fun than BARACK is that you can add your own negative Hillary-isms. So…check it out. I have added some already (see below)  that have made it to the page…so its my new addiction. If you add some yourself…post them in the comments here on this site. I want to know the people who help add to the pure giggle-filled American pop-culture we live in. hillaryis.jpg

Six Week Post-Op

Two weeks ago, Brian went to his Orthopedic Oncologist for his six week post surgery visit. We were so happy to learn that he thought Brian was doing quite well. His scar is healing well and with another few months of scar massage it should fade quite a bit. Although he’ll have a scar always, we’re hoping it will fade a bit. He also indicated that Brian has full range of motion in his leg too. So, thank you again to all of our friends and family for your support and prayers throughout all of this. He will get a complete body MRI in June and four times a year for the rest of the year to ensure that nothing like this latest tumor has an opportunity to grow or develop without being noticed.

Political Vocab 101

February 18, 2008 – [thank you Daily Candy - all info in brackets provided by yours truly, not part of original article]

It’s Elected! Boogie-Woogie-Oogie – Election Day Lexicon
Faster than a speeding ballot. Sweeping primaries in a single bound. Look up in the sky: It’s a gimmick; it’s a cliffhanger; it’s punditocracy.

20/20 vision
n. the media’s tendency to blow small issues totally out of proportion for the sake of news show fodder.

between Barack and a hard place
n. the sphere in which undecided democrats linger to contemplate the electability of candidates.

I heart Huckabee [great movie]
n. a bad movie and campaign.

it takes a village idiot
phr. a Washington proverb.

meet Romneys [no longer applicable; thank goodness]
n. The persistent desire to poke Mitt’s handsome sons on Facebook.

mock the vote
n. when people too embarrassed to admit they’re clueless about the voting process make awkward jokes to remain elusive.

over the Hillary
n. undecided voter syndrome wherein the desire to see a woman in the White House is overrun by one’s dislike for Hillary.

pundIt girl [often misunderstood; yet intelligent]
n. the token female analyst who sits at the table with Wolf Blitzer and co.

scamdidate
n. an unviable aspirant who just confuses the public (see: Ron Paul).

super delegetsome
n. when powerful insiders use their influence to score dates with campaign managers and candidates’ daughters.

…with national attention

So I have to post this for the world to enjoy. (click image to enlarge and enjoy)
img00247.jpg
I found this advert at some restaurant a while ago in the bathroom (weird/great ad space). Not only is this terrible design…and the line at the bottom is awesome since they are “attracting national attention”, but the BEST PART OF THE DESIGN sadly didn’t turn out in my camera phone shot. Under the logo the tag line is the greatest tag line of all time:

“THE JAGUAR OF GRAPHIC DESIGN”
Amazing.
With that said and with the encouragement from Dusty Abshire (the Ron Artest of Graphic Design), I would like to see everyone that views this site post in the comments their take on a possible better tag line that I may or may not steal some day.

STRM WTCH

Today kinda feels like a post-thanksgiving meal. The day after the big election and i think the turkey is kicking in. I’m tired and to boot, its “Storm Watch 08″ outside. Nothing de-motivates me to work quite like crummy weather so i have to do something that increases my motivation and collaborates with the bad weather. That fix is good, perfectly created “crummy weather music.” Today i will pull out the big guns and play my fav bad weather records that mix well with the weather the same way peanut butter mixes with chocolate or the way popcorn mixes with movie theaters. Here are my cure-all bad weather equalizers:

Karate: Unsolved (fav song: “Small Fries”)
The Album Leaf: One day I’ll Be On Time (fav song:”MP”)
The Forms: S/T (fav song:”White Dot”)
Midlake : The Trials of Van Ocupanther (fav song: “Branches”)
Pelican: The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw (fav song: “Sirius”)
Red House Painters: Old Ramon (fav song: “Cruiser”)
Brad Melhdau Trio : Anything Goes (fav song: “Everything In its Right Place”)
Chamberlain: The Moon My Saddle (fav song: all of them)
Sigur Ros: Ágætis Byrjun (fav song:”Starálfur”)
The Appleseed Cast: Mare Vitalis (fav song:”Fishing The Sky”)
Cat Power: The Greatest (fav song:”Lived In Bars”)
Stephen Brodsky : Expose Your Overdubs (fav song:”Good to Know”)
B. Fleischmann: The Humbucking Coil (fav song:”Broken Monitors”)

Alt Press & P is for Panda

ap_panda.jpg

In this months issue of Alternative Press with Against Me/Tegan and Sarah on the cover(2 different covers) there is a little piece about Valentines Day swag and they used the P is for Panda “Death Panda” girls hoodie I designed a while back. This is pretty doggone cool for Chad and I and my hope is that it turns into some killer sales. (also to there is a write up on The Militia group with a photo of Chad from 3 years ago with a perve-stache.) Its worth checking out.
