This dude may look cute, but don’t be fooled. Somehow over the past few weeks that we’ve had Brutus, he has become more and more of a punk. He takes two steps forward in the behavior department, then 3 steps backwards via the “I’m a spunky dog” department. We are trying all the crazy Caesar methods and whatever we can glean from the internet. He still wants to bite and chew stuff. Any suggestions? please help.

Here’s what has helped us immensely with our *ack* three “energetic” dogs:
Wait 5 minutes to greet Brutus when you are reunited (when you come home from work, return from errands, etc). Nudge him away if he tries to jump on you during this time, and do not make eye contact. This will just about kill you, but trust me, it’s important.
He must stay at least 3 feet away from you at all times unless he is invited closer.
He is not allowed up on the furniture unless you invite him. Do not respond if he “asks” to be let up.
He must stay 5 feet away from you and his bowl at meal times until he is invited to approach and eat.
If he misbehaves or tries to approach without an invitation, tell him “Back.” If he still approaches, you must correct him with a firm nudge backward with your foot.
These may be some of the same techniques Ceasar uses; they were taught to us by an amazing trainer here in Minnesota. Being consistent with these displays of dominance has made all the difference – turning our house from a chaotic dog-world into a peaceful person-run home.
Good luck!
Hey, this Ben, Cronin’s roommate from college. I ran across your blog a while ago, and have been silently following along. I was wondering what you use to scan your film. Do you use a standard scanner with a light box, or do you use a dedicated film scanner? I’ve got a bunch of old cameras too, and thought I’d find out since you’re ahead of me as far as getting them up on the web goes.
As far as the dog goes, I don’t have a clue. Ours came pre-trained.
Hi there Brian & Leah, just letting you know that you have been randomly selected as my “Random Blog of the Week”
