Timberrrrr…….

This past weekend was so quiet and relaxing for Leah and I.  No worries and no stress for two days straight was fantastic. That was until last night at 12:30pm or so when a huge bang/thud sort of woke me. My theory is that I woke and remember the last 1/100th of the noise. I would have blown it off except that Leah jumped up and siaid “what was that?”  So we get up and check out the back patio to see if some animal was trying to steal from our recycling. Nope. Our bikes were still there. Weird. Looking out the back window nothing looked out of place.
We start heading back to bed and thats when we got a frantic knock on the front door – its Harold our neighbor and he looks scared out of his mind.  He asked if we were alright. “Sure…what’s going on? Was there a bang or something?”  Harold’s relply was awesome “Um…yeah. Big limb broke off our oak tree and fell in your back yard.” Leah, Harold and I walk out back and we are greeted with an entire back yard FILLED with leaves and branches. Six inches from the bottom of our porch steps… branches. Barely enough room to get off the porch and you are face first in what used to be the limb of a really majestic oak tree.

This morning when we woke up we were simply shocked that nearly ever square inch of our back yard is filled with fallen tree. The amount of green before your eyes almost hurts. But somehow, by the grace of God, neither Harold’s or our home were touched. There might be some minor scrapes on the back of the house by our bedroom, but thats it. We are lucky…er…blessed.

Celebrating Six

…as in six years of marriage, wedded bliss or whatever the crazy kids are calling it these days. We’ve spent this weekend, sans work, sans friends, relaxing, having fun, reminiscing and enjoying an overcast cool weather weekend of fun. Seriously the weather has been great, the fun continues and we’re enjoying the weekend to the fullest.

This morning we tried a new breakfast place called Ria’s Bluebird cafe [thank you Andy & Kate for the recommendation] which was wonderful. Asparagus and Brie omlette with fried potatoes and hot sauce for B and roasted pork and poblano cream sauce eggs benedict with sweet potato cake -YUM!  Followed by shopping, antiquing and on the horizon – yummy homemade asian-infusion dinner topped off by Sophia Blanc de Blanc to end this perfect day, perfect weekend.

B thank you for an amazing number six on the countdown of forever!

crazy… but that’s how it goes

Lately Leah and I have been busier and crazier than ever with work, life, friends, dinners, parties, etc.  No complaints really, other than we never get a chance to eat at home or slow down and be, dare I say, bored.  So today our goal is to try to be bored by the time we end our day. So bored in fact that we have to force ourselves to sit down and watch a movie.  We’ll see how this goes.

I recently picked up a new toy camera with a 35mm film hack. I’m super excited about messing with this over the next few weeks. Here are some of the fun photos. (looking forward to shooting this at our friend’s wedding in November)

Brutus’ Girlfriend

This is Brutus and his girlfriend Bella, our friend’s/neighbor’s dog. Bella shows him who’s boss and ever since they have been hanging out, Brutus has been less of a jerk. It’s very sweet.
