Brutus today scored huge with discovering our neighbor’s oversized tennis ball and fell madly in love. Lisa, our rad neighbor, let brutus take it home and he spent all afternoon playing with it and just had the happiest look on his face (as happy as a dog’s face can look).

For brutus it was a giant tennis ball that made his day. For me this week it was finally getting Adobe’s Creative Suite 4 for my Intel-based Mac. For those of you that think it’s nerdy, fine, [warning: nerd speak ahead] but I had a legit copy of CS2 that was based on the IBM Mac processor and ran like a champ on that machine. But I have an Intel based computer that when it runs anything for the old processor, it runs itself through another application thus slowing down the computing power. When I would run Adobe CS2 it would crash when 2 Adobe aps were open. It would take forever to open and save complex files. Now that I have CS4, things run so fast and cleanly that I would literally giggle with excitement that nothing crashed and that files would open SO FAST. For someone who’s livelihood is really held in Adobe’s hands, you’d think I would have picked this up earlier, but I didn’t.
The fact that files opened fast was MY giant tennis ball this week. It’s the little things in life that make it so fun.
In other Brutus news, he told me that everyone should listen to any band that contains any member of The New Pornographers. ( Neko Case, Destroyer, Swan lake, AC Newman) These are his favorite bands. That’s what he said, I don’t make this stuff up and interject my own opinion. That would be silly.
What a whirlwind it has been since January 1. I started my new job at W Atlanta Downtown which is amazing. I doing a similar job to what I was at TWELVE, Catering Manager, but the event space, environment and team is fantastic. I was recruited by the Director of Catering and Convention Services when she came to TWELVE for a competitive site visit. I showed her and a colleague around [very normal in the hotel hospitality industry] and an hour later I received a phone call inquiring if I would be interested in W? Yes and WOW!
So the rest is history, I joined the team a month prior to opening and have been working my butt off ever since. Opening a hotel is a phenomenal experience and for anyone in the industry I recommend it should you ever have the chance. Although the hours have been long; I’m really enjoying it and have a new found satisfaction and team approach to what I’m doing.
Brian and I are also in the middle of house hunting. Our lease is finished mid-May and so we’re experiencing the excitement and stress of purchasing our new home. We’re pre-qualified and ready to rock; now all we need to do is find the right digs. And, as first time home buyers we’ll receive the newly passed $8K tax incentive next year when we do our taxes and NOT have to pay it back; thank you Mr. Obama!
So life is good, but crazy busy. Thankfully Brian has more work than he knows what to do with lately. Overall we’re ready for spring and warm weather and for things to slow down; just a bit. We’re missing our friends and if we haven’t been in touch like usual – this is why and we miss you!

Well… Looks like my CSS editing ability for wordpress ran out. (thus the new look) oops. i’ll get to fixing that one of these days.
We dont really have time these days for a few reasons. A. I’m slammed busy with design work. It looks like 09 is going to be a BUSY BUSY year.
B. (and really the biggest and best news) is that Leah got a new job! Yeah. Things weren’t going so hot at her other gig, so she is now working for the brand new (and by so new I mean that it openes today new) W hotel in dowtown Atlanta. I’ll make sure Leah posts some more news about it here shortly.
Do you see the 2nd floor corner office pointing right at you? That, at one point, was my office when I was working with some rad kids and a handful of rad people at the Crystal Cathedral. Now that building is for sale. For some reason this really bums me out but also makes me giggle inside. To quote John Maxwell: “everything rises and falls on leadership.” Enough Said.

There is much to be thankful for this year and primary among them Brian and I are feeling very blessed to love and be loved by so many new friends and neighbors. We are also thankful for the consistency of family and old friends too [regardless of distance]. We hope you are enjoying a restful time of celebration and reflection with the people in your lives [immediate family or serrogate] that support, challenge, encourage and love you regardless of circumstance!
~Feliz Navidad~
there are some days that leah can’t stop kissing brutus. This is generally his look.
